British Energy takeover means secure future for Gloucestershire workers
We've been finding out how the takeover of nuclear energy firm British Energy's going to have an impact here in Gloucestershire...
The company, which employs 2000 people at its offices at Barnwood in Gloucester is welcoming the takeover by France's EDF Energy.
The move won't be 100% certain until shareholders have voted on it...
But British Energy's Chief Technical Officer, Dr Andy Spurr, told Star Radio it should mean a secure future for their workers in Gloucestershire.
The Barnwood offices include the science, technology and engineering departments, as well as the company's skills academy.

St Paul's redevelopment plans approved
The redevelopment of St. Pauls in Cheltenham's a step closer to getting finished.
Plans for things like the amount of houses and the new look of the area were approved by borough councillors this week.
As part of the area's regeneration they want to try to build in features that'll make sure the area doesn't develop problems with crime.
Leader of the council Steve Jordan told Star Radio it's a long process and final decisions that'll shape the area won't be made until November.

Children's homes in Gloucestershire to close?
A consultation began this week to decide whether to close every children’s home in Gloucestershire.
The county council has one month to choose whether to save all the homes, shut some, or shut all of them.
If they were to close, foster parents would have to be found for each of the 13 youngsters currently living in them.
The council told Star Radio it's part of a continuing drive for improvements in their service provision for young people.

People with learning disabilities speak out on hate crime
Hate crimes against people with learning disabilities are in the spotlight in Gloucestershire today (Thurs 25th)
National figures show that around a quarter of learning disabled people have been physically attacked, and 90% suffer bullying.
Today some of them are coming together with police, charities and council workers to find solutions.

Gloucestershire priest jailed
A Catholic priest has been jailed for a year for sexually abusing seven Gloucestershire schoolgirls.
It happened over 30 years ago.
Father Peter Carr was found to have abused girls in the Forest of Dean area.
The 73 year old was arrested after two women shared their memories on the Friends Reunited website.

Child poverty in Gloucestershire reaches crisis point
Gloucestershire parents are struggling to make ends meet and support their children.
New figures show around a third of the county's children are living in or on the brink of poverty.
The research has been conducted to co-incide with a rally called Keep the Promise where the government's being asked to dish out 3 billion pounds.

Pollution in Tewkesbury hits an all time high
People in Tewkesbury are fighting high levels of pollution in the town.
Over the last eight months the amount of nitrogen dioxide has risen ten percent above government guidelines.
It's thought high buildings in the town are trapping the car fumes.
There's a meeting Tuesday evening for councillors to discuss ideas of how to lower the levels of pollution in the High Street.

The county council are running a new scheme 'Carbon Watchers.'
It'll mean around thirty families in the county will be closely monitored to see what effect small household cut backs have on a global scale.

Cheltenham teen suffers cuts to his face
A Cheltenham teen is recovering after being hit in the face with a bottle over the weekend.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at around half 6 saturday evening.
The 17 year old was with a group of men in St Mary's Churchyard when he was hit with the bottle cutting his face and head.

Cheltenham Borough Council put a price on the Regent Arcade
Cheltenham Borough Council could be about to sell off their share of the Regent Arcade shopping centre.
It's thought the profits made from the sale could fund the Civic Pride re-vamp of the town.
It could mean things like a new traffic system and more parking facilities.

A Gloucestershire estate gets mobile
It's been a long time coming..
BUT we're now be able to get from Wheatpieces to Cheltenham and Tewkesbury.
Residents on the estate will now have a half hourly bus service.
The number 42 will combine the current routes 43 and 71.
